The New Year Doesn't Need a "New" You...Just Don't Forget to Update by Pauline Herveaux

Had this photo taken for me by Matty Jacob almost a year ago for Stereotype Co after being invited by my good friend Dave Noodlez. I've witnessed Dave Noodlez, or as I jokingly call him "the Jesus of Our Generation", put in work and hustle in a way I'd never seen before. He's the BEST at bringing out the LATENT and SUPPRESSED best in anyone he collaborates with on any project, event, idea, campaign, etc. You dream it, he will help you DO it...if not at least guide you to a friend more specifically equipped or capable of helping you set the stage where your story will thrive..whatever genre it may be.

Here was also the first time I had the pleasure of working with the dynamic and always aesthetic magic maker herself, @unicornempress as my set stylist. Since then, it's been a blast of creative fun to brainstorm and pick each other's mental artist eyes.

For me this last year has been a hell of a ride with a whirlwind of endeavors and adventures, and of scars and stories. I've been paid to headline, asked to contrubute to multiple media outlets, brought on as a co-producer and as the face of numerous events where I've learned and adapted to my role as faciliator, mediator, conductor, coach, speaker, artist, model, comic, actress, and met so many phenomenally REAL and diversely gifted humans who are enthralling to watch be engulfed in their crafts of choice.

However, in that same year...I have been sleepless, restless, too high energy for some, and yet at times too apathetic and dismissive towards others. I have experienced a plethora of fun varied events and made myself proud by keeping my composure and not "doing anything foolish" then gone to my local watering hole only to black out and wake up on a lawn down the street. I have archived all of this to my own story, even if it does kind of appear to be a never ending Theory Of a Deadman music video. Hey, I'm still here ain't I?

I'll be the first to look back with awe and gratitude at just how often I've been a human pinball doused in booze..bouncing manic from point to point.. 2015-2016 has been so fucked up and draining, but I needed some sort of rock bottom to finally scrape my white ass & wake up."

The shot with the head down, eyes not shown because I'm breaking down my stresses and going to try and make a bunch of tweaks to my system and approach to life this year.

They Don't Want You To Win #MondayMotivation by Abby Daniella

When you’re laughing at DJ Khaled’s snapchats but you realize they really DON'T want you to win….

He's helping you unlock the keys to success, but I’m here to inspire you to take practical steps!

Your 2016 should be filled with new strategies that get you to the finish line.

And knowing your steps to get there is a major key.

They don’t want you to win.

Here are some of my biggest aha moments from 2015 that helped me grow the most:

- I realized that we can either get stuck in the rat race or create a better way for ourselves by learning from those who are 2 steps ahead of us. It's easy to get comfortable with how things "have always been" instead of seeking out new perspectives and opportunities in this fast growing world.

- I learned that the music game is not at all what you believe it is when you're on the outside of it. Its realities will have you questioning everything you thought to be true, but it's also a great lesson about what’s real vs what’s on the internet or what the media feeds us.

- When weighing having a 9 to 5 against risking it all for your goals, you have to give it some deep thought. You've got to have a plan and not just “wing it” because you can set yourself up for disaster if your mind isn't in the right place.

Here are three suggestions that will help carry you into your new year and inspire a few 'aha' moments in your own journey:

1) What's it going to cost you to NOT be doing what you love? How much money do you need to do what you love comfortably?

2) What challenges are in your way?

3) Take each challenge and write down one way you could reverse that obstacle into something you can overcome within the next three months.

You should now end up with some clarity on the next steps you can take to get closer to where you want to be. Think this might help you get out of your own way? Comment below with "I'm doing this" to let me know that I should keep an eye out for your next level up!

"New Year, New Me" by Abby Daniella #MondayMotivation

“New Year, New Me”

  By Abby Daniella

Annoying, right?

I’m sure you’re familiar with the “new year, new me” phrase.

It’s the thing everyone tweets on New Year’s Day and weeks before.

As you think back, wondering what you would've done better AND what your 2016 is looking like…

Maybe you're realizing that your year was pretty great.

Maybe you wouldn’t change a thing?

But let’s face it, that’s probably not the case.

Even if you accomplished a lot of your goals, could you have used some minor tweaking along the way?

Most of the time it’s not motivation that’s the problem, your system is either broken or flawed.

And you’re the only one that has the control to fix it.

Do you constantly dread a certain task or always find yourself stuck?

What's missing?

I hate when that happens, but I’ve learned it all comes down to rethinking your approach.

Sometimes we get comfortable in a certain pattern for so long we forget there's more than one way to get the job done!

First, reevaluate the ways you’ve been doing things.

Let the memes and tweets arrive as they may…

When you see a “new year, new me” post use that as your reminder to make a list of what you need to refocus on.

Your 2016 should be filled with new strategies to get to the finish line. Step-by-step.

Failure is a Part of Success by Abby Daniella #MondayMotivation

Failure Is A Part of Success

By Abby Daniella

I'm about to ask you a bunch a questions to get you thinking, but first:

You've just taken a test and you’re anxious for the outcome.

Think back to high school where Mrs. ________ is about to hand you your grade.

Now, your best friend's got an A and you’re 100% sure you did, too.

But nope...

Marked in red; circled.

You're getting hot and you feel like the classroom is closing in on you.

"Wtf??? How did I...?

Maybe I should have...?

My mom is gonna..."

Life is a big test, bro!

I know this just as much as you do.

And if you're not prepared for what's in front of you when you know it's coming, can you expect to be ready for the pop quiz?

But here's the thing:

Experiencing failure is, in my experience, one of the most important parts of life we should embrace more often.

I struggle with this every day of my life, so I'm not anymore immune than you are.

We always hear our heroes say that failure comes with success.

But somehow we're still surprised, devastated, and embarrassed when we FEEL it firsthand.

Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs and many more encounter countless failures along their unique paths.

So are WE going to be successful... or not?

Are you going to let setbacks KEEP you in the back of the class?

Passion and hustle will help to keep your wheels turning, but what about yourpurpose?

Why are you doing what you're doing?

Why are those things important to you in the first place? What do they MEAN?

How is what you're doing today helping you to get closer to it all?

Or... are your wheels just spinning in place with no true direction in mind???

(You know this feeling)

There's no reason you can't put your name next to your heroes'.

If there is anything to be afraid of, be afraid of NOT trying.

Or turning into those people you see every day.

Those you know aren't living inside of their true happiness and are, unfortunately, just going through the motions because they settled.

Where will you be in 5 years?

Hold that image in your mind.

What are you doing today to make that a reality?

Failure allows you to learn, go back to the drawing board, and get it right the next time. Or at least get closer.

Taking an L is part of the journey you just can’t avoid it. So fail fast.

Fail often.

You'll grow fast.

Faster than those who are on the sidelines, not even trying.

How will YOU react next time failure slaps you in the face?

Quit... or slap back?

There is no success without failure.

And your most embarrassing failures will probably teach you more than your biggest successes!
