Not like the other kids Mia Isabella Benefit

Webmaster

This past Wednesday December 4th, artists, DJ's, Musicians and people from NYC came together for the first 'Not like the other kids' event. This event was to help raise funds & awareness for Mia Isabella, a young girl from Staten Island, NY fighting A.L.L. Leukemia. Not like the other kids is a movement founded to support people in need and remind the world that we should celebrate being who we are.

The night consisted of DJ sets by DJ Bembona & DJ U-Kno, performances by Carl Sherron & Starda, a live painting by La Femme Cheri and art on display by WPG4. Stereotype Co hosted a photoshoot with models Teiaia, Marissa, Iinndu, Pauline, Dj Chiinky, Gabrielle and more.

This is one of many nights to help and bring awareness to the cause. If you are aware of someone that could use help. Contact us

The New Year Doesn't Need a "New" You...Just Don't Forget to Update by Pauline Herveaux

Webmaster

Had this photo taken for me by Matty Jacob almost a year ago for Stereotype Co after being invited by my good friend Dave Noodlez. I've witnessed Dave Noodlez, or as I jokingly call him "the Jesus of Our Generation", put in work and hustle in a way I'd never seen before. He's the BEST at bringing out the LATENT and SUPPRESSED best in anyone he collaborates with on any project, event, idea, campaign, etc. You dream it, he will help you DO it...if not at least guide you to a friend more specifically equipped or capable of helping you set the stage where your story will thrive..whatever genre it may be.

Here was also the first time I had the pleasure of working with the dynamic and always aesthetic magic maker herself, @unicornempress as my set stylist. Since then, it's been a blast of creative fun to brainstorm and pick each other's mental artist eyes.

For me this last year has been a hell of a ride with a whirlwind of endeavors and adventures, and of scars and stories. I've been paid to headline, asked to contrubute to multiple media outlets, brought on as a co-producer and as the face of numerous events where I've learned and adapted to my role as faciliator, mediator, conductor, coach, speaker, artist, model, comic, actress, and met so many phenomenally REAL and diversely gifted humans who are enthralling to watch be engulfed in their crafts of choice.

However, in that same year...I have been sleepless, restless, too high energy for some, and yet at times too apathetic and dismissive towards others. I have experienced a plethora of fun varied events and made myself proud by keeping my composure and not "doing anything foolish" then gone to my local watering hole only to black out and wake up on a lawn down the street. I have archived all of this to my own story, even if it does kind of appear to be a never ending Theory Of a Deadman music video. Hey, I'm still here ain't I?

I'll be the first to look back with awe and gratitude at just how often I've been a human pinball doused in booze..bouncing manic from point to point.. 2015-2016 has been so fucked up and draining, but I needed some sort of rock bottom to finally scrape my white ass & wake up."

The shot with the head down, eyes not shown because I'm breaking down my stresses and going to try and make a bunch of tweaks to my system and approach to life this year.

If You Missed Superhero Party this May Help You feel better (photos by Adam Smith)

Webmaster

Last week we hung out Superhero Party presented by Dae Monae. The night was hosted by Whiskey Burrito & Ray Vazquez with performances by MDXV, Brand-Nu, Antonio Mancilla with also art on display by Derek Morrison, Tiffany Porcu & Jahtiek Long. The night also include the premier of a short film directed by independent filmmaker Michael Schiavo. The night stayed energetic from the sounds of DJ Flavaz. The night was great and brought superheroes from all different walks of life. There were games, a live wall drawing by Kenly Dillard and comedy from up and coming comedian Farooq.

It was a lot of fun. If you missed we are sorry. These photos from Adam Smith may help you feel better though. Big shout out to Unicorn Empress for putting on this unique community event that inspired so many. Another great event at Hub 17.
