3 Simple Steps That’ll Keep You Self-Motivated by Abby Daniella

3 Simple Steps That’ll Keep You Self-Motivated by Abby Daniella

By Abby Daniella

You’re trying your best to stay afloat but gravity won’t take the day off.

It’s a roller-coaster ride that we all face, sometimes every day of our lives.

And finding your way out of this continuous cycle is a full-time job all by itself.

How can you maintain the rush when it hits? It'll take more than just a positive mindset to get you there, I swear:

Surround yourself with greatness: because who you hang out with is a reflection of who you are. If you position yourself with others that build you up, make you grow, and challenge you to be a better you, can you help but grow?

Example: I'm thankful to have mentors and people I can go to for advice. But I didn't always know where to turn. When I decided to get serious, there was a reason for them to help. I didn't beg. I just simply showed I was serious and things fell into place. People can tell when you're serious and when you are just acting like you are.

Keep learning new things: no matter what, stretch yourself. What are you truly passionate about? Make a list of 5 things you could talk about for hours without stopping. Topics that other people would love to learn about or do themselves. Then make sure you’re always soaking up knowledge on the top 2. Tuck the other 3 away for later. Because face it, you don’t know it all. It's okay to admit that. Only fools think they've got it all figured out. But you do have access to all the answers. The internet has all the information you need to do everything you've been putting off. Why wait? Start now, but slow. Google is your best friend. But you have to be specific with your searches. The more you learn, the more confident you become in executing that new idea.

Example: I want to continually get better at online marketing. I might google, "best online marketing courses for writers in music". Whether or not I find a course on the first page is irrelevant. I want to find where a lot of real people are talking about the best resources. I'll keep following the trail until I find what stands out to me. I'll refine my search based on what I come across. You'll always find the gems this way.

Help others level up: You can’t help everybody. You're only going to run yourself into a ditch trying. But the ones who share the MOST similar interests and qualities? THEY should get your attention. Freely share your ideas. Ideas mean nothing without proper execution, so just share! Turn his/her light bulb on. Helping others allows you to recognize things about yourself that you may have not seen before because you’re able to get out of your own head. It's practice. Build your own little crew and grow together.

Example: Who do you see putting in that work the right way, with a long term vision? Who do you see just throwing stuff up against the wall to see what sticks? Who's the better group to focus your attention on? Which group is going to keep you motivated when things get tough? Which group is going to be in it for the long haul?

Want me to keep writing these? If I could turn these posts into a mini book or app, would you cop it to keep you on point when you're feeling low?
