The New Year Doesn't Need a "New" You...Just Don't Forget to Update by Pauline Herveaux

Had this photo taken for me by Matty Jacob almost a year ago for Stereotype Co after being invited by my good friend Dave Noodlez. I've witnessed Dave Noodlez, or as I jokingly call him "the Jesus of Our Generation", put in work and hustle in a way I'd never seen before. He's the BEST at bringing out the LATENT and SUPPRESSED best in anyone he collaborates with on any project, event, idea, campaign, etc. You dream it, he will help you DO it...if not at least guide you to a friend more specifically equipped or capable of helping you set the stage where your story will thrive..whatever genre it may be.

Here was also the first time I had the pleasure of working with the dynamic and always aesthetic magic maker herself, @unicornempress as my set stylist. Since then, it's been a blast of creative fun to brainstorm and pick each other's mental artist eyes.

For me this last year has been a hell of a ride with a whirlwind of endeavors and adventures, and of scars and stories. I've been paid to headline, asked to contrubute to multiple media outlets, brought on as a co-producer and as the face of numerous events where I've learned and adapted to my role as faciliator, mediator, conductor, coach, speaker, artist, model, comic, actress, and met so many phenomenally REAL and diversely gifted humans who are enthralling to watch be engulfed in their crafts of choice.

However, in that same year...I have been sleepless, restless, too high energy for some, and yet at times too apathetic and dismissive towards others. I have experienced a plethora of fun varied events and made myself proud by keeping my composure and not "doing anything foolish" then gone to my local watering hole only to black out and wake up on a lawn down the street. I have archived all of this to my own story, even if it does kind of appear to be a never ending Theory Of a Deadman music video. Hey, I'm still here ain't I?

I'll be the first to look back with awe and gratitude at just how often I've been a human pinball doused in booze..bouncing manic from point to point.. 2015-2016 has been so fucked up and draining, but I needed some sort of rock bottom to finally scrape my white ass & wake up."

The shot with the head down, eyes not shown because I'm breaking down my stresses and going to try and make a bunch of tweaks to my system and approach to life this year.

They Don't Want You To Win #MondayMotivation by Abby Daniella

When you’re laughing at DJ Khaled’s snapchats but you realize they really DON'T want you to win….

He's helping you unlock the keys to success, but I’m here to inspire you to take practical steps!

Your 2016 should be filled with new strategies that get you to the finish line.

And knowing your steps to get there is a major key.

They don’t want you to win.

Here are some of my biggest aha moments from 2015 that helped me grow the most:

- I realized that we can either get stuck in the rat race or create a better way for ourselves by learning from those who are 2 steps ahead of us. It's easy to get comfortable with how things "have always been" instead of seeking out new perspectives and opportunities in this fast growing world.

- I learned that the music game is not at all what you believe it is when you're on the outside of it. Its realities will have you questioning everything you thought to be true, but it's also a great lesson about what’s real vs what’s on the internet or what the media feeds us.

- When weighing having a 9 to 5 against risking it all for your goals, you have to give it some deep thought. You've got to have a plan and not just “wing it” because you can set yourself up for disaster if your mind isn't in the right place.

Here are three suggestions that will help carry you into your new year and inspire a few 'aha' moments in your own journey:

1) What's it going to cost you to NOT be doing what you love? How much money do you need to do what you love comfortably?

2) What challenges are in your way?

3) Take each challenge and write down one way you could reverse that obstacle into something you can overcome within the next three months.

You should now end up with some clarity on the next steps you can take to get closer to where you want to be. Think this might help you get out of your own way? Comment below with "I'm doing this" to let me know that I should keep an eye out for your next level up!

"New Year, New Me" by Abby Daniella #MondayMotivation

“New Year, New Me”

  By Abby Daniella

Annoying, right?

I’m sure you’re familiar with the “new year, new me” phrase.

It’s the thing everyone tweets on New Year’s Day and weeks before.

As you think back, wondering what you would've done better AND what your 2016 is looking like…

Maybe you're realizing that your year was pretty great.

Maybe you wouldn’t change a thing?

But let’s face it, that’s probably not the case.

Even if you accomplished a lot of your goals, could you have used some minor tweaking along the way?

Most of the time it’s not motivation that’s the problem, your system is either broken or flawed.

And you’re the only one that has the control to fix it.

Do you constantly dread a certain task or always find yourself stuck?

What's missing?

I hate when that happens, but I’ve learned it all comes down to rethinking your approach.

Sometimes we get comfortable in a certain pattern for so long we forget there's more than one way to get the job done!

First, reevaluate the ways you’ve been doing things.

Let the memes and tweets arrive as they may…

When you see a “new year, new me” post use that as your reminder to make a list of what you need to refocus on.

Your 2016 should be filled with new strategies to get to the finish line. Step-by-step.

Failure is a Part of Success by Abby Daniella #MondayMotivation

Failure Is A Part of Success

By Abby Daniella

I'm about to ask you a bunch a questions to get you thinking, but first:

You've just taken a test and you’re anxious for the outcome.

Think back to high school where Mrs. ________ is about to hand you your grade.

Now, your best friend's got an A and you’re 100% sure you did, too.

But nope...

Marked in red; circled.

You're getting hot and you feel like the classroom is closing in on you.

"Wtf??? How did I...?

Maybe I should have...?

My mom is gonna..."

Life is a big test, bro!

I know this just as much as you do.

And if you're not prepared for what's in front of you when you know it's coming, can you expect to be ready for the pop quiz?

But here's the thing:

Experiencing failure is, in my experience, one of the most important parts of life we should embrace more often.

I struggle with this every day of my life, so I'm not anymore immune than you are.

We always hear our heroes say that failure comes with success.

But somehow we're still surprised, devastated, and embarrassed when we FEEL it firsthand.

Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs and many more encounter countless failures along their unique paths.

So are WE going to be successful... or not?

Are you going to let setbacks KEEP you in the back of the class?

Passion and hustle will help to keep your wheels turning, but what about yourpurpose?

Why are you doing what you're doing?

Why are those things important to you in the first place? What do they MEAN?

How is what you're doing today helping you to get closer to it all?

Or... are your wheels just spinning in place with no true direction in mind???

(You know this feeling)

There's no reason you can't put your name next to your heroes'.

If there is anything to be afraid of, be afraid of NOT trying.

Or turning into those people you see every day.

Those you know aren't living inside of their true happiness and are, unfortunately, just going through the motions because they settled.

Where will you be in 5 years?

Hold that image in your mind.

What are you doing today to make that a reality?

Failure allows you to learn, go back to the drawing board, and get it right the next time. Or at least get closer.

Taking an L is part of the journey you just can’t avoid it. So fail fast.

Fail often.

You'll grow fast.

Faster than those who are on the sidelines, not even trying.

How will YOU react next time failure slaps you in the face?

Quit... or slap back?

There is no success without failure.

And your most embarrassing failures will probably teach you more than your biggest successes!

About Me

It's Monday, Don't Forget To Be Awesome by Abby Daniella #MondayMotivation

It's Monday, Don't Forget To Be Awesome by Abby Daniella

Remember, you’re in control of how you feel, so choose happiness!

Give up, give in, or give it your all?

If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it.

Whose court is the ball in?

YOU get to build your team, pick your players and design your plays.

What are YOU going to do about the thoughts and ideas that keep you up at night?

Are they going to still keep you up at 55 years old because you let doubt get in your way right now?

If you can think it, you can do it. You just have to figure out HOW.

Yeah, you're kind of stuck.

We've all been there.

I was there yesterday.

I was there with this post.

But you're reading this right now. Your turn!

You’re on your way.

All you need is a proper plan and the road map to get there.

Don't know where to start?

Here's some fuel to get you moving:

WHY are you doing all of this in the first place?

Have an answer that you've put deep thought into?

Okay, now take that answer and ask yourself WHY that is your answer.

Try this over and over and over.

Keep going until you reach the core of what is going to push you into tomorrow.

You should feel energized because you're getting to the center of what drives that idea you have.

It might even help you refine all the thoughts you have floating around in your head.

You just might get some more clarity.

Or maybe not.

But you won't know unless you try it!

Then, if that helped, let me know how you feel after doing it.

Be So Good They Can't Ignore You By Abby Daniella

Be So Good They Can't Ignore You

By Abby Daniella

Yup, Steve Martin said it best.

Develop your skills, make sure people can't overlook you, and kill the game.

You enter the room and people want to know who YOU are. There's something about your aura.

Why? Because you've mastered your craft to the point where folks can’t help but notice. And you know it.

Now they’re interested in your why’s and how’s. You didn't have to go to them. THEY come to you!

But you have to figure out what your calling is, right?

You've got to learn everything about what it is you're doing. Inside and out.

No shortcuts, all hustle.

Don't worry about the ones who say you’re dreaming too big. Remember, you’re not here for them.

Who are you here for?

What's your definition of 'great'?

Are you living up to it for yourself and them?

It's okay if you’re not; as long as you're heading in the right direction each day.

Don’t be afraid to stand out and flex every inch of your dopeness.

3 Simple Steps That’ll Keep You Self-Motivated by Abby Daniella

By Abby Daniella

You’re trying your best to stay afloat but gravity won’t take the day off.

It’s a roller-coaster ride that we all face, sometimes every day of our lives.

And finding your way out of this continuous cycle is a full-time job all by itself.

How can you maintain the rush when it hits? It'll take more than just a positive mindset to get you there, I swear:

Surround yourself with greatness: because who you hang out with is a reflection of who you are. If you position yourself with others that build you up, make you grow, and challenge you to be a better you, can you help but grow?

Example: I'm thankful to have mentors and people I can go to for advice. But I didn't always know where to turn. When I decided to get serious, there was a reason for them to help. I didn't beg. I just simply showed I was serious and things fell into place. People can tell when you're serious and when you are just acting like you are.

Keep learning new things: no matter what, stretch yourself. What are you truly passionate about? Make a list of 5 things you could talk about for hours without stopping. Topics that other people would love to learn about or do themselves. Then make sure you’re always soaking up knowledge on the top 2. Tuck the other 3 away for later. Because face it, you don’t know it all. It's okay to admit that. Only fools think they've got it all figured out. But you do have access to all the answers. The internet has all the information you need to do everything you've been putting off. Why wait? Start now, but slow. Google is your best friend. But you have to be specific with your searches. The more you learn, the more confident you become in executing that new idea.

Example: I want to continually get better at online marketing. I might google, "best online marketing courses for writers in music". Whether or not I find a course on the first page is irrelevant. I want to find where a lot of real people are talking about the best resources. I'll keep following the trail until I find what stands out to me. I'll refine my search based on what I come across. You'll always find the gems this way.

Help others level up: You can’t help everybody. You're only going to run yourself into a ditch trying. But the ones who share the MOST similar interests and qualities? THEY should get your attention. Freely share your ideas. Ideas mean nothing without proper execution, so just share! Turn his/her light bulb on. Helping others allows you to recognize things about yourself that you may have not seen before because you’re able to get out of your own head. It's practice. Build your own little crew and grow together.

Example: Who do you see putting in that work the right way, with a long term vision? Who do you see just throwing stuff up against the wall to see what sticks? Who's the better group to focus your attention on? Which group is going to keep you motivated when things get tough? Which group is going to be in it for the long haul?

Surround Yourself with Greatness By Abby Daniella

By Abby Daniella

Let’s bring it back to the good ol high school days: your parents are bugging you about who you’re hanging out with.

"Nah mom, Tracy ain’t a bad friend."  (A month later you can’t stand her. And now you have a new best friend)

You hate to admit it, but she was right.

You're realizing that “you are who you hang out with” is such a true statement.

If you’re around people that (unknowingly) tear you down and tell you that you’re dreaming too big, you'll soon believe it.

What they're projecting on you is what's been projected on them whether they realize it or not.

This is why it’s important to surround yourself with greatness.

Who you hang out with is a reflection of who you are.

You ever notice that your ambitious and successful friends are usually the ones encouraging you to push yourself? Think about it.

Is there anyone around you NOT doing that?  Doing the opposite?

Drop him, her, or them and start building with those that share similar qualities and interests. Go where they are and you'll stand out to THEM.

They're looking for you too!

If you surround yourself with energy that builds you up, makes you to grow, and challenges you to be a better you, you’re going to be greater tomorrow than you are today.

Monday is Actually Good For You [#MondayMotivation w/Abby Daniella]

Written by: Abby Daniella
Sunday evening hits and you're laying in bed thinking "damn, tomorrow is Monday?"

Now, you're going over (in your head) everything that has to get done this week.

"@#$% whoever made up this calendar."

I've been there many times too and if you ask me, Monday's get a bad rep. But, it's a blessing in disguise. How?

Planning to start a healthy habit, but been procrastinating?

Today would be the perfect day to get the ball rolling on that.

Because it's another chance to start fresh and get it right. To at least get the wheels turning.

Let's be real: we can't escape all the struggle. So why complain?

This thought is a constant reminder. One that keeps us mature, grounded, and in-tune with reality.

You have at least 4 fresh starts a month to be in more control than you already are. Is this really THAT bad?

Too difficult? Too much to handle?

Monday is not your enemy. She can actually be your bestie.

You're not going to love everything about her all the time.

But I bet if you wake up next to her with a positive attitude, you'll have a better week than everyone who woke up today complaining, hoping that things would just "fall into place."

Carefully create your space and everything will fall where it's supposed to.

And it's always good to have a sense of directon. Let us know in the comments ONE thing you'll do differently this week to steer it towards your final destination.

Haters Will Hate, Ignore It

Written by: Abby Daniella

Because…your confidence might just remind them of their insecurities. They can't stand it. It would be nice to control what others say, do, act. But unfortunately, life doesn’t work that way. However, we do have the ability to control how WE react (or don’t) to people and situations we find ourselves in. Everything doesn’t need a reaction and it’s important to know this and practice it. At the end of the day, positives and negatives can’t live in the same place. The choice is yours, everyday for the rest of your life. Regardless, it’s not your issue and you can’t trip because your confidence makes others feel a way about themselves. Whose problem is that, really? Why give it your energy? Don’t upset yourself because of what someone might say because in life folks will "hate" you for no reason. You're eatin'. Live your life and starve the trolls!
