Vent Your Truth – An Honest Discussion About Addiction

On Saturday, June 28, the Staten Island community came together for Vent Your Truth at Killah Coffee — a powerful afternoon centered on conversation, creativity, and connection.

Hosted by VENT NYC, a newly certified 501(c)(3) founded by Deejay Khalil, the event created a safe space for people to share their experiences with addiction, listen to powerful stories, and support one another.

A Space for Conversation & Healing

The heart of the event was an open and honest interview with Jacob Moses, Matt Germoso, Mark Fabian, Johnny Floss, and others who shared personal insights and experiences that resonated deeply with the audience. The discussion reminded everyone that addiction affects more than the individual — it impacts families, friends, and entire communities.

Creativity in Action

In addition to the conversation, guests enjoyed a Stereotype Tee Party, where they could design and print their own custom t-shirts. This hands-on activity gave attendees a creative outlet to express themselves and take home something meaningful.

Community Spirit

The event was free and open to the public, with plenty of refreshments, thanks to the generosity of Killah Coffee and support from Staten Island Arts and NYC Cultural Affairs.

The afternoon ended with new connections formed, important conversations started, and a renewed sense of hope for those impacted by addiction.
