Varteny Daghinian Daschian Interview | Respect the Artist

This interview was curated by KIR ART & START Shows

Varteny is an artist who loves exploring her creativity in different styles, media, and disciplines, feeling the strokes of her drawing, every drop of paint, and spaces with diverse expressions. She enjoys crossing the lines of different styles, breaking molds with elegance. She enjoys art from different periods of history. She began by painting portraits, something she loves! Then she felt the need to explore other pictorial genres with the vastness of creativity, showcasing the versatility of expression in each work. She imagines freely and transforms, inviting the viewer to feel as they contemplate her pieces, to see the message behind them. She likes to awaken emotions and delve into the viewer's feelings. So, if you were to see one of my works, I would ask you: What do you feel?

How did you get your Artist name?

I use my own name to sign my paintings, but I created an artistic name for my brand and social media. You can find me on all platforms as: Art of Vart. As for how I came to this discovery, let me tell you that… I came up with it after a creative process playing with my name and art, combined with the designs of art spaces I've created in the past, making an allegory of the elements I used as part of that structure. That piece eventually became the image of my logo.

How did you get into creating?

Since childhood, I've been very creative in various areas, and painting is one of them. When my mother saw my inclinations, she didn't hesitate to enroll me in drawing and painting classes with a wonderful Italian Master when I was 13 years old, and the rest is history.
For me, everything looks like something to paint or write about. I see and feel the essence of art in everything.
“Every element creates a new beauty, even if it isn't beautiful or you can't see it, Varteny”

Where are you from?

I’m proudly Armenian!

How did growing up in your neighborhood/city affect you?

All places are circumstantial, while vocation and/or creativity come from the soul. I think we are born with purposes that are found through our talents, so in any place in the world these will develop because we are born with them; places do not determine us.

What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?

In addition to receiving drawing and painting lessons initially for approximately 7 to 8 years, and later for another 2 to 3 years with other teachers, I have explored and experimented with almost all painting media to feel each one. I keep creating new experiences, but I have also always been a great student of the great master painters, sculptors, architects, and other areas throughout history.

What does your current setup look like?

I love lighting in different decorative ways, so there are illuminated details everywhere, a couple of plants, and order. Although my studio is quite small, I organize it meticulously to make the most of every space. And when I change painting mediums, I move them around depending on what I'm painting, as I always work on several pieces simultaneously. I enjoy drawing, hence my tendency to show the underpinnings of my sketches. I must mention that I also enjoy watercolor, but I absolutely love oil painting it’s divine!

Who inspires you?

I am inspired to express feelings, reflect experiences, and blend the power of art and literature. To show a different perspective and sensation of existing things or situations, transforming them while maintaining their essence.

What is your goal when you create?

To motivate feelings and thoughts. To send inspirational messages that stir emotions, regardless of the type of emotion they evoke.

Why do you create?

To evoke emotions in the viewer that will then help them progress in their lives. All emotions, whether high or low, can move us forward if we use them as a driving force.

How has choosing your creative path affected your life?

Deeply, every space in my life has been touched by creativity. Imagination opens mental paths that we can develop in daily life, and I, in particular, have created in different areas throughout my life, because everything we all do is create day by day, even if you are not an artist; we are all born creators.

Did you have to overcome any obstacles along the way?

I think that obstacles, although frustrating and often very difficult, are stairs that show us a necessary variation on the path. Obstacles are directional, arrows markers that point the way, and of course, as we develop, they shape our character, giving us a different perspective on everything we do. So, they are the good teachers, even if they feel overwhelming, It makes you a new person. It's best to see them as a challenging game.

What's your go-to song right now and why is it important to you?

It would be difficult to mention just one song; I lean quite a bit towards jazz and classical music, while also exploring other genres. Music is important because it keeps me focused.

What is your dream as an artist and what steps are you taking to reach your dream?

To help people find the best version of themselves, or at least to take some steps towards it, inspired after contemplating a work of art and if it's mine, then I'll feel fulfilled and satisfied! And here I must mention that it doesn't matter if the emotion the art evokes is pleasant or not; what's important is to feel, because only then will we know that the work is doing its job. And in that context, remember that every emotion stirs something within you that you can use to move towards your goals after obtaining that first spark.
“Art is the sublime air that touches you without saying a word, Varteny.”

What would you tell someone else with a dream?

Write it down on paper, break it down into steps from largest to smallest, starting with the most basic as the first step. And ask yourself: What if I succeed? And with that smile that spreads across your face, take that first small step, because what's the worst that could happen? That it doesn't happen? It doesn't matter. You'll still be a new person with the necessary experience to guide you to where you need to go. There's no loss; it was an experience you had to go through to get where you're meant to be. Nothing is by chance. So ask yourself: What if I succeed?

It was during the Art and Fashion Show - Holiday Masquerade! This took place at the Marriott Hotel Residence Inn Time Square in the middle of the busy month of December 2025. It was an extraordinary and very enjoyable experience that I loved being a part of, sponsored by Sergey Kir (@sergey_kir_art) and his team, with collaborations from Sophocles Plokamakis (@startshows) and others. It was a great event merging art, fashion design, and modeling.

On one hand, we artists exhibited our work in our own space, and on the other hand, when the runway show began, the models showcased both the fashion designs and the paintings of the artists present. It was a magical experience, not only because the event was fantastic, but especially because of the people. The energy was exceptional and wonderful among the organizers, collaborators, artists, fashion designers, models, and visitors, with whom we shared great interaction and the excitement of the moment. Wow, it was amazing! It felt like we'd all known each other for a long time; the magic of creation was truly present!

And I personally sold three pieces of art, one of which the buyer donated to a non-profit organization, which made me even happier. Everything was wonderful! Thank you all!
