Apoorva Interview | Respect the Artist
This interview was curated by START Shows
Apoorva is Mandala artist from India creating contemplative works inspired by balance, rhythm & the healing power of art.
How did you get your Artist name?
My artist name comes from my belief that mandalas are a reflection of the self. Since my work is rooted in intention and mindfulness, presenting it under my own name felt natural.
How did you get into creating?
I began creating mandalas during pregnancy, and the practice stayed with me through early motherhood, gradually becoming the foundation of my artistic journey.
Where are you from?
I am from Bangalore, India.
What did you do to advance your skills/knowledge?
Alongside continuous practice, teaching played a key role in advancing my skills. Explaining technique and process to others sharpened my precision and strengthened my understanding of the form.
What does your current setup look like?
I work from a home studio with a well-organized table setup, professional tools, and consistent lighting, allowing me to maintain accuracy and quality across my work.
Who inspires you?
My inspiration comes from personal transformation rather than a single individual. Motherhood marked the beginning of my practice, and that phase continues to influence the themes of balance, patience, and intentionality in my work.
What is your goal when you create?
When I create, my goal is to translate intention and rhythm into a visual experience that feels calm, grounded, and immersive.
Why do you create?
I create to offer a moment of pause in an otherwise fast-moving world.
How has choosing your creative path affected your life?
This path has helped me embrace slow, intentional work and transformed the way I relate to time, process, and even the people around me.
Did you have to overcome any obstacles along the way?
My path required learning to balance motherhood, personal life, and developing a consistent artistic practice. Finding that rhythm and discipline was a challenge, but it ultimately strengthened my commitment and clarity as an artist.
What's your go-to song right now and why is it important to you?
My go to song has always been “If you believe “.
This song keeps me motivated, inspired and keeps me going through every moment
What is your dream as an artist and what steps are you taking to reach your dream?
My dream is longevity—to create work that remains relevant and resonant over time. I work toward this by staying committed to process, integrity, and continuous learning.
What would you tell someone else with a dream?
My advice would be to follow your passion with dedication. Challenges will come, but staying committed and curious will make the journey worthwhile.
