The Bronx Mural Project: 2,500 Sq Ft of Public Art, Built with Students

The Bronx Mural Project is a large-scale, disability-youth-inclusive public art project organized by Shagara and led by internationally recognized muralist Michelle "Mr B Baby" Guerrero. Michelle will work alongside students to complete the mural in front of the entire school community.

What makes this project especially meaningful is the school itself. P168x @ JHS 151 is a co-located campus — half the school is D75, serving students with intellectual, developmental, and significant disabilities, and the other half is general public school. The mural will represent both communities. Students have been submitting their own ideas for the mural, and Michelle's final concept will be entirely student-inspired.
The project is happening in two stages. In mid-to-late October, artists will help with wall prep, priming, and painting alongside Michelle. On November 15, the final event brings students, families, artists, music, food, and local organizations together for a community celebration outdoors.
The whole thing is being professionally documented by Jeremy's FilmsMore. Participating artists will be credited in all project documentation and marketing content, and volunteers can table their own artwork at the event to showcase or sell.
