A.del Interview - Respect the Producer
Meet A.del: The Self-Made Producer from New Jersey Making Her Own Lane in Music.
How did you get your name?
My name is a mix of my first and last name—Ayanna Delgado. My stage name, A.del, is pronounced "Idol."
How did you get into producing?
I started producing so I could create beats to sing over. I want to be an artist who does it all—produces her own beats, records her own vocals, and crafts a sound that’s both unique and authentic to who I am.
What did you do to advance your skills and knowledge?
I did a lot of reading and watched countless YouTube videos. I also studied the production of songs I truly love and admire.
What did your first setup look like?
Honestly, it was just an old Chromebook and a free, not-so-great online production app. But it was enough to get me started.
What does your current setup look like?
I’m still working with a Chromebook, but now I have a gaming mic, my iPad, and a MIDI keyboard to help me produce.
If you could produce for any artist (dead or alive), who would it be?
Billie Eilish
What is your goal when you create?
To make something that hasn’t been heard before—something that stands out in both style and sound. I aim for authenticity in everything I create.
What’s your go-to song right now?
“The Wilhelm Scream” by James Blake.
What is your dream as a producer?
To become famous, produce my own music full-time, and perform live. I want to build a career where I’m creating and sharing my own sound with the world.
What advice would you give to someone who dreams of becoming a producer?
Even if you don’t have fancy equipment, your dream is still possible. Stay dedicated and persevere. Use whatever you have and build from there.
