If you could take photos of any 3 people who would it be?

If I could take photos of three people it would have to be @bbtwee I love her style, I would also love to shoot @smino he's one of my favorite rappers and his style is also super rad. Lastly I'd shoot with @heidiiijane I love the vintage style she has and all her photos are killer.

It would have have to be JFK, I would love to shoot Elvis Presley his hair is just amazing, Lastly I would of loved to shoot with my favorite wwe wrestler Eddie Guerrero

If you could take photos in any 3 cities what would they be?

1. Seoul, Korea

My goal when shooting is to be able to capture the emotion and have the viewer feel that emotion when looking at it.

How did you get into photography/videography?

I always loved taking pictures circa MySpace era but really started taking it seriously when I met my husband. He taught me the technical side to it and then I developed my own style.

What did you first use to take photos?

A little olympus point and shoot. I still preach till this day, the best camera you can have is the one in your hand.

Where did you go to school? Do you have any formal training/self taught?

I have no formal training but the amazing thing about this time that we’re in is that there is free education everywhere, from youtube to podcasts and Facebook groups.

Do you have any nicknames?  How did you get that name?

A.Lee which of course is just a short version of my first and middle name.

If you could take photos of any 3 people who would it be?

Jerry Seinfeld

Sarah Jessica Parker

Nasir Jones

If you could take photos of any 3 people that are no longer living who would they be?

My grandmother

Frida Kahlo

Salvador Dali

unnamed-2.jpg

If you could take photos in any 3 cities what would they be?

I've taken photos in over 24 countries so this is tough for me but of course Santorini because the landscape is just stunning,

Somewhere in Vietnam, ideally everywhere.

Havana, Cuba because when I went a couple of years ago I forgot my camera (literally thought my husband packed it and ended up shooting photos and video with an iphone 6s)

What is your goal when you capture photos of someone?

My goal when I take photos of someone is to uncover their unique traits. When people step in front of my camera they first show me who they think I want them to be or who the world wants them to be. But I want to find out what’s under that surface and bring out their truth.

What music do you listen to when you edit photos?

It depends on what I’m editing. If I’m editing event photos and it’s a party then something more fun like Spice Girls. But if I’m editing a wedding or an engagement session I listen to something slow and sweet.. some r&b, some sappy stuff. For other photos it’s usually something with little to no lyrics like Petite Biscuit.

unnamed-3.jpg

What's your favorite app on your phone?

Well the obvious is going to be Instagram but currently it’s DuoLingo. I’m teaching myself Spanish with it and I’m currently on a 48 day streak!

What is your dream as a photographer?

My dream as a photographer is create a company that’s sustainable for years and years to come and to be able to hire more of my friends. People think the best thing about having your own business is making money but what’s even better is making money and giving your friends opportunity to make money as well.

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to be a photographer/videographer?

Just do it. Pick up a camera, ANY camera and start doing something. Before you could be good at anything you have to be brave so give yourself grace to suck for a bit but if you keep going you’re going to crush it.

How did you get into photography/videography?

I've been loving cinema since I was a newborn 'cause my house has always been filled with VHS. As I grew up I started filming and editing videos with an old compact camera that I used quite a lot until I bought my first camcorder in 2015. Like a lot of 90s kids YouTube gave me the possibility to share my first videos (I was like 13-14 years old) and thanks to that platform I discovered a whole new universe opening myself towards an international dimension. Photography is relatively new to me 'cause I started taking photos and editing them in 2017 after working and saving money to buy my actual camera.

What did you first use to take photos?

As I said before my first "professional" camera was a camcorder by Panasonic (the SD-90) but it just wasn't meant to take photos so I got a Lumix G7 which I use right now for both videos and photos.

Where did you go to school? Do you have any formal training/self taught?

I studied languages in high school (English, French and Spanish) and then I got a degree in Arts, Music and Entertainment. University was all about theory so at a practical level I consider myself a self taught.

Do you have any nicknames?  How did you get that name?

Actually no, people call me Jo, Johnny (without the "h" cause I live in Italy and learning english here sometimes seems tough) or just Jonathan even though I find it so formal. My girlfriend calls me Boo but that's another story.

If you could take photos of any 3 people who would it be?

Marisa Tomei; Hugh Grant; Lars von Trier.

If you could take photos of any 3 people that are no longer living who would they be?

Luis Buñuel; Edvard Munch; Man Ray.

cris.jpg

If you could take photos in any 3 cities what would they be?

Moscow; London; Dublin.

What is your goal when you capture photos of someone?

To mash-up my idea of them and their idea of them, it's a job for two.

What music do you listen to when you edit photos?

My go-to album to listen when I'm concentrating is "Heritage" by Opeth, but I usually listen to italian-french trap music while editing. It depends on the mood of the shooting in my opinion.

nicola.jpg

What's your favorite app on your phone?

The ones that I use most are Instagram, WhatsApp, Spotify and Netflix. I think I'll go with Instagram.

What is your dream as a photographer?

Make it my main job, meet interesting people and improve my skills.

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to be a photographer/videographer?

Do it. It may look banal but tons of talented people never start taking photos or shooting videos because of their fear of what other people may think. Learning that quite often other people don't really think at all is a must in this case.

Where can people find you? (social media, website, etc.)

People can find me on instagram @imjonathanpace and on my website www.jonathanpace.art

How did you get into photography/videography?

I got into photography after studying film for 3 years in college…I think it’s essential for every filmmaker to understand lighting through photography. It allows you to struggle and strengthen any misunderstanding of lighting you may have by becoming familiar with a camera.

What did you first use to take photos?

Anything I can get my hands on…but for now, Canon 77D and my iPhone!

Where did you go to school? Do you have any formal training/self taught?

I attended Penn State and Cleveland State, but I’ve mostly educated myself with the help of tutorials.

(D for Darius, I love you)

Do you have any nicknames?  How did you get that name?

Victoria is actually my middle name and I use it because it’s easier for those who speak Spanish—rather than them to call me my real name (Bridgette).

If you could take photos of any 3 people who would it be?

I love taking pictures of people who are less likely to be photographed because of they’re not your “typical” subject—whether that is  influenced by gender, sexual orientation, religion, immigration status etc.

So it’d have to be trans rapper, Ms. Boogie

Snow Tha Product

And my grandma :)

If you could take photos of any 3 people that are no longer living who would they be?

Amy Winehouse

Selena Quintanilla-Perez

and Nicky Da B

unnamed-3.jpg

If you could take photos in any 3 cities what would they be?

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Tokyo, Japan

Rio De Janeiro, Brasil

What is your goal when you capture photos of someone?

To convey the perspective I have of them, based on the perspective they have prevented of themselves. But sometimes, a perspective is not given—that’s when you have the power to create something with them.

What music do you listen to when you edit photos?

Kelela, Wax Poetic, Amy Winehouse…anything that invokes deep emotion within me.

What's your favorite app on your phone?

Photoshop Express

What is your dream as a photographer?

To help heal certain social issues through the viewfinder and to create an agency where QPOC will be able to thrive as models, actors, filmmakers, and artists in general. I want to be able to give back to my community in an effective way that’s not about profit.

What is some advice you would give to someone with a dream to be a photographer/videographer?

People will say that it’s too competitive to do or be good at…I find that to be the opposite.  Don’t accept “no” as an answer…because that’s when you have accompanied them in your defeat. If photography and videography ignite a fire in you, keep feeding that fire.
